Bilu Balakrishnan, FCS

Bilu Balakrishnan is a seasoned Corporate and Business Advisor with over 20 years of professional experience in corporate governance, legal and business advisory, commercial transactions, strategic alliances, joint ventures, due diligence, intellectual property, and business disputes.

He specialises in advising entrepreneurs, founders, startups and established businesses on the legal and commercial structuring of business relationships, including the conceptualisation, drafting, review and negotiation of business agreements, joint venture arrangements, founders' agreements, shareholders' agreements and other strategic commercial contracts.

Through his professional and advisory practice, he has worked extensively with businesses across South India and the UAE, while also advising clients with cross-border business interests involving jurisdictions including the UK, UAE and Malaysia.

He has particular experience in assisting entrepreneurs in translating business ideas into legally sustainable business structures. His advisory work covers the design and formation of appropriate legal entities, governance frameworks, regulatory compliance and protection of valuable business and technology assets, including software code, SaaS platforms, applications and other intellectual property. Bilu is the founder of Bilu Balakrishnan & Co., Company Secretaries, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and serves as Senior Advisor at Meenakshi Associates, Corporate Consultants. He is a Certified CSR Professional of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), a Registered Independent Director with the Independent Directors' Databank of IICA, and a Member of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).

Bilu holds a Master of Financial Management (MFM), a Master of Human Resources Management (MHRM) and an LLB (General). He is a Fellow Member (FCS) of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

He has also successfully completed online certificate courses in Contracts Law through Harvard University via edX, and Innovation and IT Management through IIM Bangalore's IIMBx platform via edX.
